I think that the medium is the message, however some mediums are received better and are more accepted than others. I believe it's all about how it is presented and that's where television has prevailed. Humans are very sensory creatures. With television you get both sound and visuals. Someone who comes off as understanding and relatable (with tone, body language, etc) will garner much more success than someone who comes off as abrasive.
When I went to the Newseum in Washington D.C., they have different quotes that are carved in the stone wall (they are quite large) before the next exhibit. One quote is from Richard Nixon and it says "The American people don't believe anything until they see it on television." A perfect example is the September 11 terrorist attack.W Although I feel like I drifted a little bit, I think that it's very true, and has become even more true over the years as television is the preferred medium of Americans.
